If anyone has any suggestions please help! Thank you Tried to restart the printer, replaced the USB cable, restarted the PC several times. I tried to install the printer software from the disc that came with the printer. Ive tried to download the latest upgrades of the drivers directly from the Canon site also. after which it shows the small flashlight going around in circles, but the danged thing never seems to find my printer.
It does not work so I manually selected "local printer" and "automatically detect plug-and-play printer and install". it's a 'plug and play' printer then the Assistant told me simply plug the printer rather than add a printer manually. Its driving me crazy! I tried to 'add printer' Wizard too. the MP490 software is loaded and visible in the control panel/Add/Remove of installed software/programs. I can hear the USB chime every time I connect the printer to a USB port or turn the printer on or off, but when I go to print or to do something that requires that the drivers, nothing happens. I can't connect my Canon MP490 to my PC under XP
